What the New AIA Docs Mean for You

Every 10 years, the American Institute of Architects publishes updates to the A201 General Conditions, the benchmark documents for managing transactions and relationships involved in construction projects. The 2017 changes – some of which are significant – are expected to be released by the end of April, and will impact the terms for most major construction contracts in the country.

You can learn more about the changes, and how your contracts will be affected, during the BX program What the New AIA Docs Mean for You.

Local construction attorney, Peter Hahn (Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP), served as one of the reviewers of the 2017 revised documents. He will examine the changes to the A201 and highlight the updates to the business and design terms in the A101 and B101 as well.

This course is pending approval for 1 LU credit from AIA.

Peter Hahn headshotPeter Hahn is a partner in the Construction Group practice at Dinsmore & Shohl. He served as a reviewer of the 2017 revised AIA documents and is a co-editor of the A201-2017 Deskbook which will be published this summer by the American Bar Association. Peter is active in several construction-related organizations, allowing him to stay advised of the latest developments that will impact the industry. He is a member of the Builders Exchange and a graduate of the BX Rising Leaders Program. He also is a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Central Ohio, the Columbus Bar Association’s Construction Law Committee and the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry.
