More
than 300 Builders Exchange members relaxed on the BX back lawn Sept.
10 for the annual Open House and Silent Auction.
This
end-of-summer tradition featured a silent auction that raised
$12,300 for the Builders Exchange Foundation and a barbecue dinner
served by the boards of the BX and BXF.
Now
in its 10th year, the foundation supports local programs
in workforce development, industry image enhancement, expanded
education opportunities and improved industry business practices in
construction.
Two
current foundation projects are the BX Scholarship Program, which
awarded nearly $50,000 to college students this year alone, and the
Rising Leaders Institute, a year-long leadership program for young
managers to develop business and leadership skills.
“The
results of the Silent Auction were amazing – and especially
gratifying given the difficult economy we’re all operating in,”
said Cathy Blackford, BX executive director.
“Of course, these challenging times make the need of those
we serve even greater, so many thanks to the members for all their
support.”
For
more information about the Builders Exchange Foundation, contact Cathy
Blackford at the Exchange, or visit the BXF
website.

you to the 2009 Open House Sponsor:
