CareWorks Consultants, Inc. is pleased to be an Event Sponsor of this year’s BX Ohio Construction Conference, continuing our years of strong partnership with the BX.

“Change is a constant in today’s workers’ compensation market, as evidenced by BWC and its Board of Directors’ decision in October 2009 to further reduce the maximum group rating discount available to Ohio employers,” said Frank Pagnatta, president of CCI.

“Even with this change, group rating continues to be the single most effective tool for Ohio employers to significantly lower their workers’ compensation premium.  Now more than ever, employers should partner with a third party administrator (TPA) that is prepared for change and can deliver long-term cost control solutions,” added Pagnatta.

The BX is part of CareWorks Consultants’ Buckeye Workers’ Compensation Alliance, a large, multi-tiered group rating program.  These multiple tiers allow CCI to offer a range of savings levels, from the BWC maximum discount to as low as 15 percent for employers with claims.  These varying levels also help employers preserve their group status from year to year, even when new workplace injuries occur.  Instead of being removed from a group, employers can qualify at a new tier that maximizes their saving potential.  The 271 BX members currently enrolled in our group rating program for the July 1, 2009 year are projected to save nearly $3.5 million combined.

“CCI prides itself on collaborating with our individual employer customers to develop claims administration, hearing representation, claims management and cost control solutions that directly impact their unique operation.  Often we act as a vital first line of communication between our customers, their injured employees, healthcare providers, managed care organizations and BWC,” added Theresa Passwater, the BX’s assigned CareWorks Consultants Account Executive.

The strength of our group program and professional claims administration gives BX members peace of mind that they are partnered with an industry leader.  To join the BX’s group rating program, employers can submit a “Temporary Authorization (AC-3)” form to CareWorks Consultants.  We will then provide a free, no-obligation analysis based on each employer’s unique workers’ compensation record.  Qualified members will receive a personalized group savings projection and final enrollment forms.

For more information, please contact CareWorks Consultants’ Theresa Passwater at (614) 526-7248, toll-free at 1-800-837-3200, Ext. 7248 or via email at theresa.passwater@ccitpa.com.
Or, you can submit your AC-3 online by visiting www.careworksconsultants.com/groupratingapplication/bxcentral.

Continental Building Systems (CBS) is a leading commercial construction company with offices located in Columbus, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Charlotte. The company has built many notable projects not only throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, but also in California, Arizona, West Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Maryland, New Jersey and Oregon.

CBS draws on a comprehensive scope of services, customized for every client, to build solutions for their companies. With a 26-year history, CBS has a diverse base of experience in commercial construction, including commercial office and tenant improvements, retail, restaurants, industrial and manufacturing, hospitality, multi-family, recreation, education, healthcare, assisted living and site development.

Todd Alexander, company president, sees the Ohio Construction Conference as an event that furthers the firm’s belief in education as a critical component to building a better industry.

“At Continental Building Systems, we view our commitment to employee education as our ‘differentiator.’ We encourage our team, at all levels, to never stop their professional development – that’s why we are supporting the Ohio Construction Conference. This event is the premiere management/leadership education event for the community of construction.”

Continental Building Systems' team of professionals understands the entire project process, anticipating challenges and creating solutions before those challenges become costly problems. CBS works in partnership with clients offering a range of pre-construction services and methods of delivery that include general contracting, construction management, design-build and fast track construction. Through strategic planning, scheduling, negotiating and hands-on management, CBS creates a framework that builds both success and solutions for their clients.

"During the last three decades, we've learned a lot about building success. We've found that constructing effective work environments requires the balanced interaction between function, quality, cost, time and safety,” Alexander said.

With Continental Building Systems, construction projects are built on more than materials like steel and concrete. The professionals at CBS approach each project with an undeniable passion to exceed the status quo in the pursuit of their goal to be the best.

“To build for the future, you must work in partnership with clients, guiding them through a project process that defines needs, develops strategies and creates solutions. And it is through that project process and the skilled integration of our construction expertise and the client's vision that, together, we build success.”

For more than a century, Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has been providing quality legal counsel to their clients. In recent years, the firm's practice has grown to include more than 450 attorneys working in 10 offices located throughout four states. In 2009, Dinsmore & Shohl welcomed nearly 75 new attorneys, significantly expanding the depth and breadth of service offerings for their clients.

In Columbus, Dinsmore & Shohl has a long tradition of service to the communities in which its attorneys live and work. "With growth comes the opportunity to become more involved in the professional and trade associations our clients and attorneys have helped build and lead. Throughout the state, we are pleased to align ourselves with associations like the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio (BX),” said Don Leach, Office Managing Partner at Dinsmore & Shohl's Columbus office and past president of the BX and recipient of that organization’s Cornerstone Award. “We endeavor to build meaningful relationships with groups like these who share our passion for fostering excellence in the industry.”

The strength of these relationships opens doors to exciting opportunities for the firm to provide invaluable counsel about topics of keen interest among the commercial construction community. Brett Miller, a partner in Dinsmore & Shohl's Columbus office and member of the firm’s workers' compensation practice group, is a member of the BX Board of Directors and a long time BX Workers' Compensation Group Rating Plan Trustee.

Leach will be facilitating the luncheon session at the Conference during which a panel of construction owners will discuss how they build successful relationships with architects and contractors. "Several local and national owners will share their best - and worst - experiences, so attendees can learn directly from their client," said Leach.

Dinsmore & Shohl's construction law practice is ranked #1 in Cincinnati by The Best Lawyers in America 2010. In 2010, Leach was named Chair of the firm's Construction Law Practice Group, overseeing more than 20 attorneys throughout five offices.

For more than 30 years, Inside Outfitters has been part of the solution—the green solution by providing locally manufactured window treatment products. These products have provided jobs and cost effective solutions on many projects throughout Ohio.

Contractors, specifiers, owners and managers can greatly influence our local economy by researching local solutions such as the Sun Or Shade™ rollershade and take the first step to being green—buy local.

“We collectively, in the construction industry, can make a difference in our community by taking this first step, said Marti Hoffer, vice president of Inside Outfitters.

“As a local manufacturer, we are asking our friends in the industry to allow us the opportunity to work with you to provide a window treatment solution, not just because we can contribute towards credits MR5.1 and MR5.2  for your LEED project, but because it’s the right thing to do.”

The onset of greening in the construction industry can be more expensive, but some solutions are actually less expensive because you buy direct from the manufacturer.  “At Inside Outfitters, we choose to support the Ohio construction industry because we want to make a difference in our community by providing locally manufactured products.”

In addition to our locally manufactured window treatments, we are a Diamond Dealer for Lutron Electronics. Lutron Electronics is the leading provider of daylighting solutions and manufactures products that are internationally recognized.  Not only is Lutron the leader in daylighting, but they too continue to manufacture many products in the United States and commonwealth territories of the United States while other similar companies outsource most manufacturing processes.

Every day we all make choices that impact tomorrow. Choose Ohio first; choose Inside Outfitters and grow locally.

Inside Outfitters is proud to be a Supporting Sponsor of the Ohio Construction Conference. To learn more about Inside Outfitters or to participate in our quarterly plant tour, “Make a Shade Day” where you make a shade for your own house or office, contact Marti Hoffer at 614/798-3506 or mhoffer@insideoutfitters.com.

This year, Mid-City Electric Co. is celebrating the firm's  50th year in business!  Since beginning in 1960, Mid-City has been developing long-term business relationships by listening to the needs of our customers, and making it our business to carefully meet those needs.  Today, Mid-City believes in this philosophy as much as we did 50 years ago, and we’re thankful to have so many repeat customers. Over the years, Mid-City has grown to more than 240 professionals including electricians, technicians, estimators, project managers, CAD coordinators, and office staff.

Many of our current projects are with long standing customers who ask us to provide everything from routine maintenance to major renovations and new builds.  Our expertise is far reaching – from high voltage services and maintenance to voice/data cabling, and everything in-between. We are currently installing systems for fire alarm, nurse call, security, CCTV, emergency power systems - to name a few. We’re also helping our customers save money through the installation of energy saving transformers and lighting retrofits.

Construction and/or maintenance in occupied or critical care areas is commonly entrusted to our people.  We’re currently performing projects in commercial offices (high rise to the single office), hospitals, food processing facilities, Data Centers, and industrial plants, with the goal being a satisfied customer.  We’re good at helping Owners and CM’s with Design-Assist projects, and are currently performing projects on a firm price, cost plus, and GMP basis.

Mid-City takes great pride in our skilled workforce. All of our electricians and technicians complete a fully accredited apprenticeship program and have several years of “on the job training”. Our team of professionals have achieved a total of eighteen (18) Craftsmanship Awards by the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio.

We at Mid-City are proud to support the Ohio Construction Conference.
