Nearly 700 members celebrated industry excellence at 117th Annual Meeting of the Builders Exchange It was a full house at
the BX Annual Meeting, held Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at the Aladdin Shrine
Center. Nearly 700 BX members and guests attended the local industry’s
largest networking event, to socialize and congratulate this year’s
award recipients. Four industry
professionals were elected to the BX Board of Directors. They were: Brian
Dew (Mid-City Electric Co.), Kathy Gatterdam (The Columbus Coal & Lime
Co.), Joel Korte (BRICKMAN) and Mark Setterlin (R.W. Setterlin Building
Co.). Board President Jim Smith
(Elford, Inc.) introduced the 2009 graduating class of the Rising Leaders
Institute. The Institute, a
year-long leadership program focused on building management skills and
business knowledge, completed its third year and is almost at capacity for
2010. The 55th
recipient of the BX Cornerstone Award, Parr Peterson (Paul Peterson Co.)
received the leadership honor for his years of industry involvement and
positive impact on the industry and community. Members also received
recognition with Safety Achievement, Safety Innovation, Gold Coat and
Craftsmanship Awards. The final award of the
evening was presented to Penny McFann of Sauer Group, Inc. McFann received
the BX President’s Award for her years of volunteerism to the industry
