The
Builders Exchange of Central Ohio BX honors the past, celebrates the present and anticipates the future at 115th Annual Meeting
It was a full
house at the BX Annual Meeting, held last Thursday at the Aladdin
Shrine Center. Nearly 700 BX members and supporters came
together at one of the industry’s largest networking events to
socialize and congratulate this year’s award recipients. Four industry
professionals were elected to the BX Board of Directors. They
were: Brian Dew (Mid-City Electric Company), Kathy Gatterdam (The
Columbus Coal and Lime Company), Dennis Hoffer (Inside Outfitters
Incorporated) and Joel Korte (BRICKMAN). The first
graduating class of the Rising Leaders Institute, an intensive,
14-session program focused on building management skills and
business knowledge, was presented to the membership. With a curriculum developed for the Builders Exchange by
The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, the sessions
were taught by OSU faculty members along with industry leaders.
The Rising Leaders Institute, is supported by a grant from
the Builders Exchange Foundation, The 53rd
recipient of the BX Cornerstone Award, David A. Edwards, Jr.,
president of Edwards Steel, received the leadership honor for his
years of industry involvement and positive impact on the industry.
Meanwhile, the
Industry Impact Safety Award was presented to Dianne Grote Adams,
owner of Safex. Named in
honor of former BX Safety Director Meg DeWerth, who launched the
Exchange safety program in 1992, the honor recognizes a person,
project or innovation that has had a far-reaching impact on
Central Ohio construction. Members also
received recognition with Safety Achievement, Safety Innovation
and Craftsmanship Awards. The final award
of the evening was presented to Doug Cooper of Liberty
Construction Services. Cooper received the BX President’s Award
for his years of volunteerism to the industry and the association.
