BX Certified Superintendent Program

Frequently Asked Questions

Schedule Rules and Regulations Enrollment Details FAQs

What is the benefit of participating in the BX Certified Superintendent Program?

Employers: You’ll offer your employees a tangible, goal-oriented benefit that builds a stronger relationship between employer and employee. It is an investment leading to a well-rounded, knowledgeable field superintendent.  Because the BX will be promoting the Certified Superintendent Program to the owner and design communities, your investment can yield a better recognized and more marketable firm.

Students: You will learn from experienced industry professionals, receive practical, useful and current job-related information, and be recognized for your commitment when you receive the BX Certified Superintendent designation.

What if I cannot recall which courses have already been taken?

The Builders Exchange can review student records for the past two years and confirm your completion of past courses.

What if courses were taken more than two years ago?

Courses at the Builders Exchange are constantly evolving and reflect current information. Therefore, the BX will not grant completion credit for the BX Certified Superintendent Program to students who took courses more than two years ago. However, students enrolling in the program may opt to test out of two BX courses: Field Supervision & Jobsite Management I and/or Introduction to Construction Drawings. There is no charge for taking the test or for receiving a passing score.

May I take time off from taking courses?

Yes, but students must complete the curriculum within a consecutive five-year time frame to receive the BX Certified Superintendent designation.

What happens if I don’t complete Level I or II in five years?

If a student fails to complete the program within the required time frame, the student may choose to re-enroll in the program. However, only courses completed in the last two years will be applicable for completion credit, and all current program rules will apply.

Do BX electives apply to completion of the program?

BX electives are an add-on cost benefit to participants in the program. For a current listing of BX electives available, call the Builders Exchange, 614/486-9521.

Who certifies the Certified Superintendent designation?

The designation is certified only by the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio. No other local, state or national organization or agency is involved in this certification process.
