Meet the 2009 Rising Leaders

Lauren Stanchfield

Company: Danis Building Construction Company

Title: Project Engineer

Years in Construction Industry:  2

Rising Leader Comments:  I wanted to participate in this class to gain a better understanding of the best business practices and relate these practices to my everyday work.  This class is a great opportunity for me to sharpen my business skills in areas such as strategy, marketing, communication and finance which I see as vital as I grow as a leader within Danis and in the industry.  This class offers the chance to better understand everyday business operations as related to the construction industry and will give me the tools to be a more effective business leader

The Rising Leaders Institute (RLI), supported by a grant from the Builders Exchange Foundation, is an intensive, 12-session program focused on building management skills and business knowledge of high potential individuals, and preparing them to serve as the future leaders in the construction industry.

Participants in the Rising Leaders Institute are required to have a champion from their company, a manager who acts as their mentor throughout the program.  Stanchfield’s mentor is Jim Albertson, project director with Danis Building Construction Company.

With a curriculum developed for the Builders Exchange by The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, the sessions are taught by OSU faculty members.

For more information on the Rising Leaders Institute, contact Paula Hammer at the Exchange.
