Meet the 2009 Rising Leaders

D. Kirk Marker

Rising Leader: D. Kirk Marker

Company: Thomas & Marker Construction Co.

Title: Project Manager

Years in Construction Industry:  7

Rising Leader Comments:  “The Rising Leaders Institute has become an anchor for helping develop not only my professional demeanor, leadership, and core values, but has also provided helpful insight and perspective into our company’s systems/operations in a positively constructive way. I am extremely excited that the Builders Exchange and Thomas & Marker have selected me to be a part of this progressive program which has far exceeded my expectations and would recommend every organization take advantage of what the RLI has to offer.”

The Rising Leaders Institute (RLI), supported by a grant from the Builders Exchange Foundation, is an intensive, 12-session program focused on building management skills and business knowledge of high potential individuals, and preparing them to serve as the future leaders in the construction industry.

Participants in the Rising Leaders Institute are required to have a champion from their company, a manager who acts as their mentor throughout the program.  Marker’s mentor is Randall Marker, president of Thomas & Marker Construction Co.

With a curriculum developed for the Builders Exchange by The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, the sessions are taught by OSU faculty members.

For more information on the Rising Leaders Institute, contact Paula Hammer at the Exchange.
