Meet the 2008 Rising Leaders

Jamie Fields

Company: Elford, Inc.

Title: Project Manager

Years in Construction Industry:  7

Rising Leader Comments:  “I enrolled in this class to increase my knowledge in the many facets of business management while learning how to become a leader in the construction industry.  I have already learned the need to mesh the basic leadership traits with my business knowledge.  Understanding this interaction, while I continue to learn, will help me become a more effective leader.  I would recommend this class to others because it has proven to be beneficial to the participants by allowing multiple organizations to interact and network on many levels in both personal and business environments.”

The Rising Leaders Institute (RLI), supported by a grant from the Builders Exchange Foundation, is an intensive, 12-session program focused on building management skills and business knowledge of high potential individuals, and preparing them to serve as the future leaders in the construction industry.

Participants in the Rising Leaders Institute are required to have a champion from their company, a manager who acts as their mentor throughout the program. Fields’ mentor is Bob Butler, vice president of Elford, Inc.

With a curriculum developed for the Builders Exchange by The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, the sessions are taught by OSU faculty members.
