BWC Mandatory Additional Safety Training

Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation’s (BWC) new rule mandates that any employer currently participating in a group rating program that has experienced a workers’ compensation claim between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008 must complete a required two hours of additional safety training before June 30, 2010.

Topics will include:

  • Accident Investigation: Developing a comprehensive accident plan and having the proper tools and documents readily available will help you capture the essential information and protect your business.

  • Keys to Effective Safety Program Management: This presentation focuses on BWC’s 10-Step Business Plan for Safety, which is a primary component of many BWC programs. Group-rating participants are strongly encouraged to implement these components to help prevent injuries and control workers’ compensation costs.

  • OSHA Update: You will learn the top citations being issued for general industry and construction over the past year so you can ensure your business is in compliance. We will also look at trends in workplace injury rates and the new focus of the agency under the Obama administration, including the new rules that are under development and the industries being targeted.
