The Building Services Division (BSD) is responsible for safeguarding the health, safety, public welfare and property of the citizens of Columbus by ensuring the effective, efficient, fair and safe implementation of applicable building, zoning, housing and nuisance abatement codes.

Functions of BSD include: building plan review and approval, permit issuance, contractor licensing/registration, building and mechanical inspection, zoning management and code enforcement.

A Building Services Review Committee has been established to provide an important city-industry forum for monitoring the division's service standards and performance levels on a regular basis.
