2010 BX Craftsmanship
Award Recipient

The Craftsman:  Jesse Fuller of Hilliard Glass & Service
His Winning Work:  Installation of the composite panel at the eyebrow roof area above the curtain walls at The Ohio Union

Jesse Fuller worked with a crew of seven to complete the installation of the composite panel at the eyebrow roof area above the curtain walls at The Ohio Union.

Located on both the east and west elevations of the building, each panel required significant attention to detail. The angles, reveals and protrusions from the wall system had to precisely match the curtain wall below.

Fuller was constantly measuring in order to custom cut and fit each panel to achieve the desired look, reveal and depth. All anchor straps, shims and reinforcements were customized for each panel as well. In all, 979 panels were used on the project.

The unique angles of the eyebrow roof resulted in very tight work spaces that were difficult to access. Fuller and his crew used an OSHA compliant “diving board” to reach some of the most challenging areas.

Fuller has been in the commercial glass trade since 1990.  He has been with Hilliard Glass & Service the past four years.

This is Fuller’s first Craftsmanship Award. He has also worked on projects at Crew Stadium, Easton Town Center and the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center at The Ohio State University.

This year, the Builders Exchange will honor 12 Craftsmanship Award recipients at the BX Annual Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Aladdin Shrine Center, 3850 Stelzer Rd.
