2008 BX Craftsmanship
Award Recipient

The Craftsman:  Steve Rose of Legacy Commercial Flooring
His Winning Work:  Flooring systems at Dublin Methodist Hospital

Since 1964, the BX Craftsmanship Awards Program has recognized the importance of craftspeople for the quality work they provide to the construction industry.

The artistry of Steve Rose can be found in the flooring systems at Dublin Methodist Hospital .

Leading a crew of five, Rose was responsible for the complete installation of carpet, linoleum and resilient flooring throughout the new facility.

One of the challenging flooring patterns is a design that begins in the resilient surface in the patient rooms and appears to flow through the wall continuing into the carpet in the hallway. This pattern features two colors in the resilient surface which Rose heat-welded together at the seam to ensure a smooth finish

The flooring also features elliptical medallions, designed to represent the look of ripples in a pool of water.  Rose hand cut and aligned the design in both the carpet and resilient flooring.

Rose has been employed by Legacy Commercial Flooring for 23 of his 25 years in the industry.

A first-time Craftsmanship Award recipient, Rose got his start in the industry through his brother-in-law who worked in sales for the company.
