The Craftsman:  Mark Callahan of GreenScapes Landscape Architects

His Winning Work:  Hardscape portion of landscape installation constructed to complement the newly constructed apartment complex of Arena Crossings

Callahan’s eye for detail was essential when installing the multifaceted landscape portion of the newly constructed Arena Crossings apartment building.

The site, located in an urban setting, was large and complex in nature. Callahan crafted granite curbing and cobbles along with concrete unit pavers along the outer perimeter of the building, the two ground-level courtyards and the rooftop garden level. With no room for staging, all materials were prefabricated, and then cut on-site to form the intricate patterns and unique angles of the blueprint.

Callahan and his crew of two, installed 12,800 square feet of pavements, 265 square feet of salvaged brick and 408 linear feet of granite curbing while the building itself was being completed. In addition, he had to crane all of the materials for the rooftop garden area in order to complete the project.

Callahan has been employed with GreenScapes Landscape Architects for more than four years. He has been in the industry for 10 years.
