This award, formerly known as the “Man of the Year” award, originated in 1954 and was developed to honor a prominent industry professional who exemplifies outstanding service and commitment to the local construction community. Dan Lorenz, president of
Performance Site Company, has been named the 2008 BX Cornerstone
recipient. A longtime member and
supporter of the BX, Lorenz has been involved in the industry for almost
30 years. The award, considered to
be the highest honor presented by the Central Ohio construction industry,
recognizes an individual’s leadership contributions to the community,
the industry and the Exchange. Lorenz served on the BX
Board of Directors for nine years, serving as president in 2003.
He was also co-chairman of the Inaugural Campaign for the Builders
Exchange Foundation and served on the Foundation Board of Directors.
In addition to his BX involvement, Lorenz is leading the expansion project at Bishop Watterson High School, and is the leadership chair for the development campaign. The school is working on a three-phase project that includes raising funds and constructing new classrooms, a multi-purpose area and improved athletic facilities. Lorenz was selected to
receive the Cornerstone Award by the BX board of directors, based on an
initial review by the BX Cornerstone Award Review Committee. The recipient
is chosen based on achievements in the following areas:
The Cornerstone Award
will officially be presented to Lorenz on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at the Aladdin
Shrine Center when he will be honored among his peers at the BX
